I woke up this morning craving the carrot cake I ate yesterday at the Deli in Queen Creek. Me, who has never given two hoots about carrot cake. But this dense, ultra-moist stuff, made with 2 pounds of grated carrots, its top swirled with tangy cream-cheese frosting, is the best carrot cake in Arizona, if not the free world (Sorry, Mom).

If you’re of the opinion there are no good restaurants in Queen Creek — certainly none to justify a journey to the far southeast edges of the Valley — The Deli just may change your mind.
